The Atlantic Beach Casino Resort offers luxurious oceanfront solitude surrounded by all the excitement and activity any vacationer could want. Located on the beach in Misquamicut, RI, the ABC Resort as it is referred to is an 8-unit condominium complex a mere 50 yards from the Atlantic Ocean. The resort is comprised of two buildings, four units in each, both connected by a large, lounge chair-and-gas grill-filled sundeck. The upper four units are the two-floor townhouses while the four lower units are one floor.
Each unit has its own private deck overlooking the resort’s private beach and the Atlantic Ocean. Your morning cup of coffee and the lounge chair on your private deck finds you alone with the sights and sounds of nature. The beach is empty at this early hour save for the seagulls searching the shoreline for crabs. The gulls’ forlorn screeches and the breaking waves are the only sounds you hear. Looking out to the horizon are commercial fishing boats in a line extending from Block Island to Long Island.
To get one’s day off to a relaxing start there is the enclosed, heated saltwater swimming pool and Jacuzzi just a few steps away. Breakfast on the beach is a mere three-minute walk south along the shore to Sam’s where everything and everyone seem to be over easy. On Sam’s outdoor deck, waffles and waves make for a perfect combination. If you wish to do the cooking, the resort boasts several gas grills at the poolside picnic area.
Later in the day the private beach beckons for a few hours of basking in privacy. And yet, just yards away from this peaceful oceanside condo oasis is plenty of activity. There is an amusement park next door. Across the street is a huge waterslide, gift shops, a batting cage, go-carts, bars and restaurants. Next door to your condo is the Windjammer where big name musical acts of the past still perform and bring back memories of one’s childhood and teenage years. Recent shows at the Windjammer and other nearby venues have included Al Sewart (‘The Year of The Cat’ and ‘Time Passages’), the 1910 Fruitgum Company (admit it, they were fun!), Barry McGuire (‘Eve of Destruction’), John York of The Byrds, Terry Sylvester of The Hollies plus acts like Blue Oyster Cult, Steppenwolf, The Knack, Iron Butterfly and Blues Image (‘Ride Captain Ride’).
The Mystic (CT) Seaport Aquarium and Olde Mystic Village are just 20 minutes away and for nighttime entertainment, a 20-minute drive puts you at either the Foxwoods or Mohegan Sun Casinos.
Your evening return to your townhouse or lower flat finds you relaxing in the full kitchen or taking advantage of the fireplace or whirlpool bath after which you enjoy a cocktail in your deck lounge chair as you take in the fresh sea air and the sights and sounds of the quiet nighttime ocean.
